Transportation
With downtown St. Louis
approximately 18 miles away, residents of
Edwardsville and Glen Carbon enjoy easy
access to three regional airports, as well
as Lambert International Airport on St.
Louis’ north side. Another advantage of
being so close to St. Louis is the vast
confluence of interstate highways that
converge in the metropolitan area.
Interstates 44, 55, 64, 70, 255 and 270 all
wind their way through and around the
region. From a nostalgic perspective, two of
the nation’s most recognized two-lane
highways also slice through the area.
Historic Route 66 cuts through Edwardsville,
while Route 50 – the nation’s only
coast-to-coast two-lane highway – skirts the
southern extremities of Madison County.
